Just a couple of food geeks living in Washington, DC. We talk about food, obsessively shop for food and chant for “Foodie magazine day!” when our mailbox is graced with another edition of food porn. Naturally we decided it was time to share our peculiarities with the world.

Keep visiting for DC restaurant reviews, recipes, local food opportunities, DC restaurant buzz and scoops.

Our philosophy on write-ups?  We operate on the “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” principle.  Why waste time and energy drawing attention to disappointing experiences when there are so many great ones to write about?

HI, met you at DC Community kitchen tonight…thanks for mentioning your blog, i love it! have you ever shopped at Yekta? a bit far afield, it’s a persian grocery store in rockville. very cool.

any chance you could tell me again the name of the ethiopian place in falls church…i think you said falls church…for my EEC (ethiopian eating club)? thanks

  2. Thanks, Ruth. It was great to meet you and your coworkers – so cool that you decided to help out the DC Central Kitchen as a group service project!

The Ethiopian place that is featured on Monday’s “No Reservations” is called Abay Market, and they’re located on S. George Mason Drive in Falls Church.

    Hope that helps!

Aha, now I realize why I like the writing on this blog so much – it’s much more fun to read about positive food experiences. Some other food blogs are negative so much of the time that I wonder whether they actually enjoy food at all. I appreciate that your balance of positivity and (occasional, measured) criticism. Keep up the great work.

    1. Thank you so much, Amelia! And thanks for visiting!

Just wanted to stop by and tell you I LOVE your reviews. I’m a “friend” (which is really a “fan”) of yours on Urban Spoon. I just read your review of Urfa Tomato Kebab and really want to try it. What appeals to me about your writing, as highlighted in the Urfa review, is your international experience. Keep up the great work, and THANKS! – Lola

Hey, I just found your blog. I live on the opposite side of the country (Portland, Oregon), but man do I love food!

Lot’s of great posts here. Thanks for the recipes.

OH, and I like your Philosophy. There isn’t much point telling people what you don’t like.

Understand your obsession with food. I read a menu like a book! Just found your blog and it seems interesting so far. Looking forward to more.

I love your blog, I found it through the Washingtonian Blogger Beat – I was inspired to start my own blog after reading yours!

    1. Thanks for letting us know, JM! We’re always happy to welcome another food blogger to our ranks.

Be on the lookout for the next DC Food Bloggers Happy Hour – we do them the first Wednesday of every month at restaurants and bars throughout the area. The next one will be at Art & Soul in the Liaison Hotel on Capitol Hill.

    would like site updates

    1. Thanks, Lucy! We’ve had some big developments over the past week that have kept us away from the blog. But we’re back now, so we’ll be posting more frequently. We’re especially excited about the upcoming season of Top Chef – lots of fun news and gossip to share.
